When It Comes to Fitness For Busy Dads, Doing Less Can Get Better Results

It’s common for busy dads to feel that they need to head to the gym regularly and do long and intense workouts in order to increase their fitness. This type of thinking, however, is more likely to leave them feeling frustrated with their limited time. This frustration can then lead them to give up on their fitness goals. This frustration often leads to inconsistent workouts. The combination of these factors can minimize results.

A more effective approach is to intentionally plan to do less. For busy dads with fitness goals, this means planning for short and effective workouts that take less than 30 minutes. More and more research is coming out showing that we can get stronger with fewer exercises per workout and hitting muscle groups less often as long as thresholds for exercise intensity are met. Short workouts at home can save even more time. Short but intense workouts done at home can lead to greater consistency. This consistency is ultimately what drives results.

As a busy dad, don’t worry if that “gym-bro bodybuilding” workout you used to do is no longer a feasible option. Focus instead on a training plan that allows you to be more consistent using short strength workouts at home.
