Busy Dads, It’s Normal For Your Fitness To Ebb and Flow
I hear from a lot of busy dads who feel frustrated that they aren’t able to maintain a fitness at the level they’d like to. As anything in fitness, there a lot of factors that contribute to this. In a nutshell, life often gets in the way of even your best intentions and motivations. While it can be frustrating, there are times when your workouts simply need take a backseat to other priorities. While it’s understandable, it’s important to not let this frustration lead you to give up on your fitness goals completely.
I think it’s helpful to understand that fitness is never really stagnant. Your fitness is always going up or going down. It’s normal and can even be beneficial to lose some fitness from time to time. Elite athletes have planned periods of unloading and detraining in order to come back stronger or faster than before.
As a busy dad, you can benefit from embracing the idea that it’s normal and can even be beneficial to lose some fitness when things get busy. It doesn’t mean you have to abandon your fitness goals. Instead, it can be helpful to look at the downtime as a normal ebb and flow of fitness and look ahead to the point you’ll have a little more time.
